Minister Avcı answered the questions of reporters upon his arrival at the Ankara State Painting and Sculpture Museum in order to participate in the “City-People Civilization Bridge: 5 Cities” program.

As an answer to the questions concerning the statements such as “80 thousand students were affected due to operations carried out in order to fight against the terrorist organization in Southeastern Anatolia” and intensified education programs are planned to be implemented for these children, Minister Avcı said:

“As soon as conditions normalize in the region, teachers will return to their offices and implement intensified education methods in order to compensate the period that has been missed. Remedial courses will take place in the weekends and semester holiday, if required.”

Noting that remedial courses will be planned for each province or district, Minister Avcı stated that the Ministry has handed over the concerning authority to the governor’s office with a circular.

Minister Avcı stressed that the education is halted not in the whole of the provinces but in certain neighborhoods adding that, “Due to this reason, intensified education activities will be implemented in schools located in these certain places. Other schools will continue their normal activities.”

“Power and means of our Ministry is enough for the compensation”

When reporters reminded the Minister that some private schools have offered to support the education of these students and asked if the Ministry will accept this offer, Minister Avcı said, “We have not received such an offer yet. We would be happy to cooperate with these education institutions according to certain plans but power and means of our Ministry is enough for the compensation”.

Answering a question about failure to hold excuse examinations of Transition from Primary to Secondary Education System Exams, Minister Avcı said that these exams are planned for January.

Minister Avcı added that the Ministry is not planning to extend the semester holiday.
