Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı visited the Dede Korkut Park at Eskişehir’s Sümer neighborhood and examined the construction sites of a stadium and the Turkish World Science and Arts Center

Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı who is in Eskişehir to participate in various different activities, has visited the Dede Korkut Park at the Sümer neighborhood. Minister Avcı was accompanied by Eskişehir Governor Azim Tuna and a delegation.

Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı had the opportunity to chat with two senior high school students at the park and talked with a child who was playing.

During his chat to journalists Minister Avcı stated that the Dede Korkut Park is a very beautiful place adding, “I want to thank Mr. Governor for his contributions to the park. We are planning to build such recreation centers for people at the location of the old stadium.”

 “Will there be teacher appointments in February?”

Answering the question of a journalist “Will there be teacher appointments in February?”,  Minister Avcı stated:

“We are evaluating the advantages and disadvantages. I prefer not to make a certain statement about this question but let me say that we are considering such appointments for the moment. We shall complete our evaluation concerning this issue after the end of Parliamentary recess. We will make a decision based on this evluation. But I believe that we will make our young people very happy.”

Minister Avcı also visited the stadium construction carried out at the Sazova neighborhood and received information from the officials. In his statement to the journalists, Minister Avcı said the stadium is expected to be completed within three months.

“After the construction of the new stadium, we will demolish the old one and replace it with a big recreation area for the public,” Minister Avcı said.

When a journalist asked Minister Avcı, “Who will take over the Turkish World Hall. There are claims that it was transferred to the Metropolitan Municipality. What are your views about this issue?” Minister Avcı responded, “Turkish World Hall shall be completed by the Turkish World Foundation and the Governorship.”

Later, Minister Avcı visited the construction site of Turkish World Science and Arts Center and open air museum playing host to miniatures of approximately 30 architectural works.

Noting that they decided that students will name the museum, Minister Avcı went on to say:

“This is place where children can actually see the contribution of the Turkic and Islamic world to civilization. Actually, this place will become an important training center. Currently, National Education Directorate has been working on a program. Children will have the opportunity to visit this museum as a part of this program and we will ask them to propose a name. We shall collect these names and a jury that will be formed among our teachers will elect one of these10 proposals. Executive Board Members of the Foundation will make the final decision. We hope that this process will be completed until November 10.“
